GYNSIL MEADOW
Information:
This expansive grassland area is encompassed by tall hedges and mature trees. A series of regularly mown grass paths wind their way through the grassland. In the south-west corner, a copse comprised of trees stands in beautiful contrast to the abstract pattern formed by the scatter of trees in the meadow. This greenery offers a serene atmosphere for visitors to take a stroll or simply to relax in the tranquility. The grass is mowed on a regular basis near the paths but the rest is only cut once a year to preserve and to encourage the growth of the wild flowers. Birds and animals have been known to inhabit the area, further adding to the charm. This area really is a haven of nature, and an inviting retreat for those who wish to take a break from their usual hustle and bustle.
Wildlife Highlights
The rough grassland attracts many invertebrates and the hedges and trees offer good habitat for birds. Amphibians cross the area to reach the pond in Gynsill Wood and bats have been seen to follow the hedge line
